Anti-Collapse Mesh for Pallet Racking — Why It Matters

5 JUNE 2026BY RACKSTOR UK LTD

What Is Anti-Collapse Mesh?

Anti-collapse mesh is steel wire mesh fitted to the back and ends of pallet racking bays to prevent pallets, boxes and loose items from falling through into adjacent aisles or work areas. It is a critical safety measure recommended by SEMA and required in many warehouse environments where operatives work in aisles adjacent to loaded racking. Without anti-collapse mesh, an overloaded pallet or a forklift impact can cause items to fall through the racking structure into the adjacent aisle with potentially fatal consequences.

Rack-Back vs Rack-End Mesh

Rack-back mesh is fitted to the rear face of the racking bay preventing items from falling backwards into the aisle behind. Rack-end mesh is fitted to the end frames of racking runs preventing items from falling sideways off the ends of the racking — particularly important at aisle ends where forklift traffic passes close to the racking structure.

Specification and Installation

Anti-collapse mesh must be correctly specified for the beam spacing and upright pitch of the racking system it is protecting. Rackstor UK Ltd surveys the existing racking and supplies mesh panels cut and framed to the exact dimensions required ensuring complete coverage with no gaps.
